Hours: 40 hours per week
We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Head Chef to lead a dedicated culinary team in providing delicious, nutritious meals for the residents of a nursing home. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of culinary excellence, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and kitchen hygiene in a nursing home environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef in a nursing home or healthcare setting.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification.
- In-depth knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs, and specialized food safety regulations for elderly residents.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a compassionate approach to catering to residents' needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, including healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to a nursing or residential home setting.

Your Day-to-Day
- Lead the culinary team in planning and preparing well-balanced and appetizing meals, considering residents' dietary needs, preferences, and medical restrictions.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations and maintain a clean, well-organized kitchen environment to support the health and well-being of the residents.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food and labour costs, ensuring high-quality meals while meeting budgetary goals.
- Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment while addressing the unique needs of nursing home residents.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of food services and coordinate special events tailored to the needs of residents.
- Stay updated on nutritional guidelines and dietary requirements, introducing innovative menu items when appropriate for the elderly population.
