Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

Salary: Up to £28,500 (Part-Time, 24 Hours Per Week)

 

Our client, a leading specialist care provider, is looking for an experienced Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team. The service supports with acquired brain injuries and progressive neurological diseases, offering a safe, secure environment to aid recovery and manage symptom progression.

 

As a Specialist Speech & Language Therapist, you will provide expert assessment, advice, and treatment for individuals with complex swallow and communication needs. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team—including nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists—you will support individuals and their families in achieving person-centred goals and planned outcomes.

 

You will also take on a leadership role, supervising and managing another full-time SLT within the service, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

 

What We’re Looking For

Our client is looking for a skilled and motivated SLT who possesses the following:

  • Qualifications: A degree or postgraduate diploma (or equivalent) in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Professional Registration: HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registration and membership with the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists).
  • Experience:
    • Managing acquired speech, language, and communication needs associated with neurological changes.
    • Assessing and managing eating, drinking, feeding, and swallowing difficulties (essential).
  • Leadership Skills: A willingness to supervise and develop other SLTs within the service.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assessment & Management: Conduct detailed evaluations of speech, language, and swallowing needs, providing tailored therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaboration: Work with individuals, their families, and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care.
  • Supervision: Provide guidance, supervision, and support to a full-time SLT working within the service.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Apply expertise in acquired neurological speech, language, and communication needs, as well as eating, drinking, and swallowing disorders.
