Head Chef (Care Home)

38 Hours per week, including some weekend work | Up to £31,600

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Chef to lead the kitchen in a beautifully designed, purpose-built nursing home. This is an opportunity to make a real difference, crafting meals that not only taste great but also support residents’ health and well-being.

 

As a Head Chef you will take charge of the kitchen, ensuring meals are prepared to the highest standard while meeting diverse dietary needs. With a strong knowledge of nutrition, food textures, allergies, and food safety regulations, the successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the dining experience for residents.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience – Previous experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior role within a care setting.
  • Dietary Knowledge – Strong understanding of special diets, allergies, food textures, and nutrition.
  • Qualifications – A qualification in catering or equivalent.
  • Food Hygiene – Up-to-date food hygiene certification.
  • Leadership – Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Kitchen Management – Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring high-quality food production.
  • Meal Preparation – Plan and prepare nutritious meals that cater to a variety of dietary requirements.
  • Food Safety & Hygiene – Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards in line with regulations.
  • Stock & Budgeting – Manage stock, ordering ingredients efficiently to reduce waste.
  • Team Leadership – Lead and support the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
