Care Home Chef

Hourly Rate: Up to £11.50
Part-time, 20 hours per week, working alternate weekends

Our client, a small residential care home providing Residential and Dementia Care, is seeking an experienced Chef to join their team and elevate the dining experience for residents. This role is ideal for a passionate chef who is dedicated to quality, enjoys crafting fresh and nutritious meals, and values a supportive work environment.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Culinary Qualifications:  Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent culinary certification.
  • Previous Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years working as a chef in a care home, hospital, or similar environment preferred.
  • Nutritional Knowledge: Familiarity with dietary requirements related to residential and dementia care, including soft diets and modified textures.
  • Food Safety: Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, with a Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage kitchen operations, including inventory control, budgeting, and menu planning.
  • People Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage residents in a warm and respectful manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Create fresh, seasonal menus that provide variety and meet the dietary needs of residents, including soft diets and texture-modified meals where required.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee aspects of kitchen operations, including food safety, inventory management, and ordering.
  • Resident Engagement: Work closely with care staff to understand residents' preferences and ensure meals are enjoyable and tailored to their tastes and health requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage with a supportive team in a warm and welcoming environment, sharing a commitment to high standards of care.
