Nursing Home Chef
Hours: 32.5 hours per week (3 x 7-hour shifts and 1 x 11.5-hour shift), including every other weekend.
Up to £12.80 per hour
Our client, a specialist nursing home for adults with neurological conditions, is looking for an experienced Chef to join their team. This role involves preparing nutritious and appetizing meals tailored to residents' dietary needs and preferences, creating a positive and enjoyable dining experience.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, experience in a kitchen environment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals in compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.
What we’re looking for?
- Food Hygiene Certification: Level 2 or higher is essential.
- Catering Qualifications: NVQ or SVQ Level 2 in General Catering or equivalent.
- Experience: Proven experience working in kitchen environments, particularly in catering for large groups.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with colleagues and residents.
- Cooking Skills: Strong ability to prepare high-quality meals under time constraints.
- IT Proficiency: Competence in basic IT tasks, including menu planning and ordering supplies.

Key Responsibilities
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and cook meals in line with prescribed menus and recipes, ensuring nutritional balance and variety.
- Special Dietary Needs: Cater to individual dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and texture-modified meals.
- Food Safety Compliance: Adhere to all food hygiene and safety regulations, including COSHH, Health & Safety, and HACCP standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the care team and engage with residents to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Stock Management: Plan menus and order supplies using IT systems to ensure the kitchen runs efficiently.
