Head Chef – Nursing Home
Salary: Up to £37,000
Hours: 40 hours per week

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Head Chef to lead the kitchen team in crafting meals that not only nourish but also enhance the overall wellbeing and enjoyment of the residents.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in a chef role, preferably within a care home or large-scale catering environment. Experience in leading a kitchen team is essential.
- Qualifications: Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
- Food Safety Certification: Understanding of food hygiene regulations and a valid food safety certificate.
- Team Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop kitchen staff.
- Organisation and Efficiency: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage time and budgets effectively and meet deadlines in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring the smooth operation of kitchen activities at all times.
- Plan, prepare, and present high-quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
- Work closely with the nursing home team to ensure that the nutritional needs of residents are met in line with care plans.
- Oversee food stock control, ordering, and food rotation to minimize waste and maintain budgeted food costs.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including food hygiene standards, COSHH, and Health and Safety at Work requirements.
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Take responsibility for menu planning and development, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and seasonal changes.
- Handle stocktaking and ensure the kitchen maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization.
- Lead by example to ensure the kitchen meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and service.
- Build strong relationships with residents, listening to feedback and making improvements where necessary to enhance their dining experience.
