Our client, a leading residential and dementia care home, is loo an experienced Head Chef to oversee their kitchen operations. Located in a beautiful and picturesque village setting, the care home provides high-quality, personalised care in a modern and welcoming environment.
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen and the catering team while ensuring the delivery of exceptional meals that meet residents’ dietary needs. Your leadership and creativity will help foster a welcoming dining experience that promotes health and well-being.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar leadership role within a catering environment.
- A strong understanding of dietary requirements, including allergens and nutritional needs, particularly for older adults.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- A creative approach to menu planning and meal presentation.
- Knowledge of budget management and cost control.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Professional Cookery or equivalent) are preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver a variety of nutritious and appetizing meals tailored to residents’ dietary requirements and preferences.
- Manage and supervise the catering team, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring all meals are prepared to the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and presentation.
- Monitor and control the catering budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality.
- Submit food orders in a timely manner to ensure sufficient supplies while minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with care staff to adapt menus and meals in line with residents' needs, preferences, and nutritional guidelines.
